Why Drama Live App May Not Work on Wi-Fi & How to Fix It

Introduction

Some users have reported an issue where our app works fine on mobile data but does not function properly when connected to a Wi-Fi network. If you’re experiencing this problem, don’t worry—we have identified the cause and easy solutions to fix it!

In this post, we’ll explain why this issue occurs and walk you through two simple methods to resolve it.

Why Does This Happen?

The issue is likely caused by how certain Wi-Fi networks handle domain name system (DNS) requests or network restrictions imposed by internet service providers (ISPs). While mobile networks tend to have more open configurations, Wi-Fi networks, especially those using custom DNS settings, firewalls, or ISP restrictions, may block or interfere with connections required for our app to function properly.

Common reasons why our app may not work on Wi-Fi include:

  1. ISP DNS Restrictions – Some ISPs use custom DNS settings that may block or delay connections to our app’s servers.
  2. Firewall or Network Filtering – Certain networks (e.g., corporate or public Wi-Fi) may have firewall settings that restrict access to specific services.
  3. DNS Resolution Issues – Some default DNS servers struggle to resolve our app’s domain or route traffic inefficiently.

Fortunately, there are two simple fixes for this issue.

How to Fix the Issue

Solution 1: Use a VPN

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) helps bypass network restrictions by encrypting your connection and routing it through different servers. This is a quick and easy way to resolve the issue if your Wi-Fi network is blocking or restricting our app.

Steps to Use a VPN:

  1. Download and install a VPN app of your choice (e.g., ProtonVPN, NordVPN, ExpressVPN).
  2. Open the VPN app and connect to a server.
  3. Once connected, restart our app and check if it now works.

If using a VPN resolves the issue, then it’s likely that your ISP or Wi-Fi network is restricting access to our app’s servers.

Solution 2: Change Your DNS to Google’s DNS

Another effective solution is changing your device’s DNS settings to Google’s Public DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). This can help resolve any issues related to DNS restrictions or slow DNS resolution.

Steps to Change DNS on Your Device:

For Android:

  1. Open Settings > Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap on your connected Wi-Fi network and select Modify Network (or Advanced Settings).
  3. Change the IP settings to Static.
  4. Set the DNS 1 to 8.8.8.8 and DNS 2 to 8.8.4.4.
  5. Save and restart your connection.

For iPhone/iPad:

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap the (i) icon next to your connected network.
  3. Scroll down and tap Configure DNS.
  4. Select Manual, remove existing servers, and add:
    • 8.8.8.8
    • 8.8.4.4
  5. Save and restart your connection.

For Windows:

  1. Open Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center.
  2. Click Change adapter settings.
  3. Right-click your Wi-Fi network and choose Properties.
  4. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.
  5. Choose Use the following DNS server addresses and enter:
    • Preferred DNS: 8.8.8.8
    • Alternate DNS: 8.8.4.4
  6. Click OK and restart your connection.

Conclusion

If you’re experiencing connectivity issues with our app only on Wi-Fi, the problem is likely related to DNS restrictions or network filtering by your ISP. Using a VPN or switching to Google’s Public DNS are the best solutions to resolve this.
